Rutgers hits big with emergence of Ian Strong, who keeps defying expectations

The safety from St. Anthony’s High School did not have a safety school in mind.
When Rutgers came with a scholarship offer in the summer before his senior year of high school, Ian Strong was instantly sold: He was going to pick the Scarlet Knights and head coach Greg Schiano. Strong’s list of offers included Bucknell, Army, Yale, Kent State and others, but no Power 5 program was taking a chance at the time. In hindsight, that’s part of the reason why Rutgers was an easy choice for him and his family.
